Back to School

We survived year 3 of Mumma's first day back to school.  This year went much smoother as Macy went to day care 1 day per week all summer so she stayed used to going there!  No separation anxiety!  Caseville is starting a week late this year due to a major building renovation over the summer, so tomorrow is my first day with students.  Here is a look back at our first days of school:

Fleeting Summer Fun

We are in our last week before school starts, and can't believe that summer is almost over!  We aren't letting that stop us from having plenty of fun though! I haven't been so great with taking my camera with us places so these photos are all from my phone...sorry for the poor quality!

Potty training has been going...not so great.  One day when I was changing Macy she told me Barbie needed a diaper and to possibly persuade her to go potty I told her "Barbie goes on the potty like a big girl."  A while later Macy came up to me and announced "Barbie is going potty like a big girl!"  I went into the bathroom and found this:

HA!  I was laughing so hard.  I'm just glad she didn't try putting Barbie on the big potty where she would probably have fallen in!

We went to visit my Aunt Noreen recently and she was babysitting for my cousin Ron's little girl Avery who is just a few months younger than Macy.  We had a very fun play date!

First we went to Jungle Java

In their bathing suits ready to go to the splash pad!

Macy looooved the splash pad. I wish we had one closer to us!

Kissing Cousins

We have continued to spend plenty of time at the beach- taking a snack break!

Last week I needed to run some errands in Saginaw so I took Macy along with me and we had a little Mommy Daughter date.

We started with lunch at B-Dubs

After some shopping we went to the Children's Museum in downtown Saginaw.  Macy went here for her cousin Bella's birthday party a couple of months ago and really liked it, so I figured we'd check it out again!  Here she is playing in the water!

Fishing like Daddy

I tried to get her to pose for me in the giant mouth but she was more into knocking out teeth!

Here was her status about 0.5 seconds after getting into the car for the ride home.  A sign of a fun day!

Lily and Bella came up to stay with Grandma and Grandpa again last weekend.  We had some fun at the beach.

We had a cookout/campfire in the back yard Saturday evening while the church festival was happening right behind our house, so we had some polka music blaring to liven up the party.  The girls had so much fun together.  Here are Lily, Grandpa and Macy hanging out!

The Dog Days of Summer

The past few weeks have brought us plenty of summertime fun!  Here are some photos of what we've been up to:

We celebrated Grandpa Polega's birthday on July 24th.  Between June and July we have several birthdays in our close family (including Mumma's and Daddy's!).  Macy was starting to think every day needed to be someone's birthday and of course we needed a birthday cake!

We went to the Huron Community Fair.  This was Macy's first time at a fair.  She loved it all, the animals, the rides, the food!  Her favorite was the bounce house.  I had to crawl in and physically remove her in order to get her out of it!

Trying Cotton Candy for the first time!

Hi Piggy!

This is the only game we played.  Macy could have sat there and played with the ducks all day!

Cruising

Macy braved the giant slide!

Tough to get a good shot on the moving carousel, but she loved riding the horse!

Back to everyday life...we fashioned Macy her own waterslide during the week of the heat wave!

Hanging with Grandma and Julia

We've gotten to go out on the boat more this summer now that we live in Port Austin! Macy and Julia are enjoying the ride.

Post-boat ride...Sharing pizza!

Princess Macy

Our little Rockstar!

We got to hit the beach with more cousins!  Here are Macy and Lily

Lily, Macy and Bella playing in the sand

I love how Bella and Macy are holding hands while we walk over to the playground.  So sweet!

We did a picnic at the park.  When I told Macy we were going on a picnic she insisted on bringing along her (toy) picnic basket as you can see in the background!

Although we haven't had the warmest summer, we have managed to get in plenty of beach time!  It's easier when you only live a couple of blocks from the beach!

Grand Marais and Pictured Rocks

This past Friday was TJ and my 5 year anniversary.  We decided to plan a little mini-vacation to celebrate.  We decided to head up to Grand Marais for the weekend and spend a day in Munising checking out the Pictured Rocks.  Neither of us had ever been there and we heard great things about it!  Even though it was an anniversary trip we decided to take Macy too.  We had a great time and that area is truly breathtaking...it is hard to believe that you are still in Michigan when you're there.  We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful state!
Heading over the bridge on the way up.  We lucked out that we planned ahead of time to spend Thursday evening in Mackinaw City because when we got there the bridge was closed because I truck had rolled over on it earlier in the evening during a storm!  It was all clear on Friday morning.

Our motel was right on the beach on Lake Superior.  It was definitely too cold to swim but Macy loved all of the rocks on the shore!

Getting caught in the chilly waves!

Too distracted by rocks for pictures!

Macy and Daddy- check out that incredible shoreline!

We found a nice playground in town that Macy enjoyed!

Thought this bench was the perfect photo op!

Digging!

We bought a cheap kite in town and it didn't fly very well but Macy and Daddy had fun trying!

Macy flying the kite!

Watching the sunset. Notice the champagne glass-every year on our anniversary we have a toast with the same champagne glasses we used at our wedding.  There were 2 markets in town and neither had champagne so we toasted with beer instead! Keeping it classy!

5 years

This was taken in the morning-still in jammies!

I drew a heart in the sand and Macy added the eyes, nose, and mouth.  I was surprised how well she drew them!

On the boat for the pictured rocks tour.  We were a little nervous how Macy would do on the 2.5 hour boat ride but she did great!

One of the magnificent waterfalls we got to see

Snuggling with Daddy on the boat

They gave away Pictured Rocks photograph books to 1 lucky person on each boat tour.  You had to go back to the gift shop to see if your name was posted.  TJ said it was a trick to get people into the gift shop (which it probably is) but I told him we had to check and see if we won and guess what...I won!

A nice park ranger took a family photo by Munising Falls

From an overlook at Miners Castle

Not afraid of heights!

The lookout was neat because it had little Macy size window for her to look through so you didn't have to lift her up near the railings

Back in Grand Marais- on the pier before we left

We had a great time and it was nice to get away for a few days!  It was also nice to get up to some cooler weather after the scorching hot week we had last week!
